With more than 55 years in the Red Angus Association of America, Swank Farm Red Angus bring a consistency and reliability to every operation. Our goal is to produce sound, functional cattle that will work for every customer. We focus greatly on maternal excellence, carcass quality and the most satisfaction in the end product.
We do this by utilizing a combination of AI and herd sires. We split half of our 80-cow herd into five groups, each with a different sire. We artificially inseminate the other half, utilizing quality Red Angus genetics to complement our females. Considering the challenges of ever-changing seasons and consumer demands, Swank Red Angus are versatile yet produce consistent results.
About Us
Swank Farm Red Angus is owned by Russ & Ellen Swank. The Swank family has been in the beef business for decades, and began focusing on registered Red Angus in 1967. The Swank Farm herd, managed by Jim Jones, consists of roughly 80 cows with heifers raised as replacements and bulls curated as herd sires. Along with raising cattle, we raise our own hay with a dedicated eye to nutrition and efficiency of our production.
“We sell cattle every day of the week!” – Jim Jones
While the bulls and open heifers are primarily sold at the Keystone Elite sale, you might see Swank Red Angus at various sales such as the West Virginia Beef Expo or sold via private treaty to other Red Angus breeders. Additionally, our bulls qualify for the Pennsylvania Bull Credit Program.
